Alcides Fonseca bliki: Alcides Fonseca: OpenSource is not read for the Telco Industry

«BusinessWeek published *an* article about Nokia’s position about OpenSource.»

Não podias estar mais errado. Até parece que este movimento chegou onde chegou a sujeitar-se ao que os outros fazem.

Bruno, this is not my point, but nokia's. I agree with it at some point. Of course I wished that it would be all open, but I don't think it's possible at this time.

    Print Screen says:

Nokia not ready for Open Source.

The Nokia management doesn't understand why DRM, IP, etc counter the very principles of Open Source, and will never be accepted by the development community.

Nokia should focus on paying for proprietary software (eg from Microsoft) for all their equipment (from Carrier to Mobile) and deal the IP issues that may arise accordingly. Although perhaps technically inferior, such choice would smoothly fit the management mindset.

I would surely like to point out that "if Nokia wants to have a major support of Open Source advocates they have to start accepting how the community works". That interview shows that they don't know as they claim either Open Source nor telcos.
